  1. Campfire Talk

Just stopping by to say hello!
  2. Campfire Talk

Hi, everybody! I thought I'd stop by the Campfire and see how everyone has been doing.
  3. When you were a kid, did you like to play "survival" games or Army, anything that involved using your wits and things at hand so you could be "the hero"? My brother and I used to play that we were the only survivors on a deserted island. He was "Mafatu" (the boy from Armstrong Sperry's book "Call it Courage" and I was "Karana" (the girl from Scott O'Dell's book "Island of the Blue Dolphins") We would find long sticks and sharpen the ends of them by rubbing them against the asphalt on our street. Then we'd have the sharpest spears possible. We'd practice throwing them at Dad's apples in the mini orchard in our side yard. We spent HOURS being "survivalists". It was great fun! :woot:

Where is everybody? Probably asleep. I'll come by later when the sun is up. 😀
  5. Poetry Corner

Here is a special place for you to post your favorite poems and maybe describe why it's special to you. Does it remind you of a certain time in your life? Does it evoke special memories? Does it make you "think"? Does it inspire and encourage you to reach farther, try harder, laugh more, live better? Poetry has a unique way of touching our souls on different levels, finding those spaces inside us that are empty or yearning for something that we just can't put our finger on....striking a chord deep within us...drawing us in...then connecting us with one another in a shared experience of thoughts and emotions.

  7. Campfire Talk

Mwahahaha! How is everyone doing? :woot:
  8. The pictures are slowly trickling in from people's iPhones. I'll keep adding as I get them!

Hey, OFG and KW! I'm getting ready to do some housework, then some office paperwork. It's so nice to be able to do most of the office work at home. Our weight loss clinics are only open on Thursday, Friday, and half a day on Saturday but I spend two full days doing paperwork, ordering medical supplies, scheduling, etc. I'm lucky that I actually enjoy all that stuff! :woot:
  11. Pictures of Our Members

Now I'm REALLY scared! If the wind blows in our direction, we'll all be glowing in dark! scared011.gif
  13. Campfire Talk

I can't figure out how kids these days can type over 1000 texts in a day! Then again, Taken by the wind and I can type a dozen PMs back and forth in no time at all.

Good morning, Happy Campers! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Ant and I are back home from a week in Pennsylvania with all my cousins and their kids. We had a great time.

Ant and I went to my storage unit here in Charlotte and dug out all my camping gear. Yippee!!! I forgot how much stuff I had in there. We'll have to come back with a U-Haul truck to clear out the rest of it. But as long as I got all my gear, I'm happy!
  23. Campfire Talk

Hey, folks! Ant arrived in Charlotte yesterday afternoon. I drove in from Cookeville to pick him up. We had dinner with Dad and shared some good memories of Mom. Tomorrow, the family is going to Newberry, SC to bury Mom's ashes in the family plot. Dad seems to be doing okay but he keeps trying to give away stuff from the house. I told him not to make any decisions for at least 6 months, then I'd like for him to think about moving to Tennessee with us. He was raised in Knoxville and has loads of family there, so it would be like a homecoming for him. Swede, just give up bread, corn, pasta, white potatoes, white rice, beer and sugar...you'll lose so much weight just from cutting those things out of your diet.
  24. I love looking at the flora and fauna when I go on walks, but I am hopeless when it comes to identifying plants! Here, we can post our pictures of those unknown plants, and maybe together we can figure out what they are!
  25. Okay, folks! We're finally getting our plans together for our first camping/hiking trip together! We are planning to head up to Black Mountain, near Asheville, North Carolina on Friday, October 5th until Sunday, October 7th. We will need some help with what to take, how much food will we need, what kind of gear should we bring, and any advice you can give us to help make our trip special. And yes, we WILL camcord as much of it as we can! However, some content may be edited for young viewers...
