No just going through 911 and telling them where it is located and the nearest FD is ok. Depends on situation also and if anyone is hurt. Short story...Three years back a group of high school kids decided to go out and get messed up at the beach then drive home smashed out of their minds. Well they didn't know it was going to be the worse fog of the year. They mised the jog in the road at a high rate of speed and slammed between to large Gfather Oaks. My wife and I were sound asleep untill we heard the screeching of the tires and the loud impact of the vechile. Into my jeans I jumped and down the stairs with the wife in hot pursuit. We looked for 30 min. and found nothing...the Sheriff finally found them when the fog lifted slightly. Two dead 1 critical. No smoke, lights, horn or anything just silence. Neighbors came out from 2 blocks away but no one found them until a hour after the accident. That was one long night.

Machine I have the same problem with our fire dept. I live in the northwest corner of my county. The county FD is 6 miles away and the next county FD is 1 mile away. We have to request the closer FD to be dispatched. When we call 911 it really gets the operator confused. They usually try to send someone from a third county! :woot: We have a jog in the road close to the house that eats alot of careless drivers at all hours of the night. Yes that is me directing traffic in my pj's at 3 in the morning.
  15. Using this section

Great idea! This would help alot of the folks trying to get their gear together. I could envision a whole set of sub catagorys for this thread. Crafts, tools, cooking and such. The paracord thread seems to be a hit.
  16. Should this topic be in the "how to" forum?
  17. I agree I like the clip also. I picked them up at a fabric store down here. After I drew a picture so the sales gal could figure out what the devil I was talking about and asking for. :'(
  18. Machine you got me in so much work this weekend it wasn't funny. :ranting: I made one for each of the kids then my wife thought they were cute so I ended up making her 2. Your braid looks different than mine. I will have to research how to post images then I will post a few. Ooops just clicked additional items so I guess I know.

All kinds of fish in the Gulf of Mexico and FL Keys. Grouper, Jacks, Cobia and Yellowtail mostly. ps I want to know what Unca Walt said to Fabled PC to sway her in his favor 50 years ago.

I forgot to mention I taught printing for a year in a State Correctional facility. Along with teaching I managed a working printing facility with the only workforce I had available...my inmates. My customer service crew were all convicted murderers. Smartest guys in the place...scary thought. These guys could fix or build anything that I threw at them. Some days it was only me and 90 of them in a building full of tools and razor blades...all counted and signed out of course. Now that was a experience.
  24. Member Introductions

Hello everyone! I just found Les's forum a short time ago and really am thrilled by all of the members assorted talents. Maybe assorted only should be used with Walt. I am a country boy from rural Indiana raised on fresh meat and vegetables straight off our farm. I moved to Tampa, FL after college and jumped into the printing trade. I do computer prepress and design for a commercial printing company. I have 3 children and a wife that still makes me giggle. I went all through scouts also and learned so many valuable wood skills because of it. I used to hunt and trap when I lived up north but have not been able to get into hunting here in FL. I scuba dive and hunt underwater now with a speargun. I have been shot at but not hit and have shot back. Yes I am a redneck. Being here in Florida and with the occasional big wind that happens once in awhile I have been preparing for that "Big One" when it should make a appearance. 2 years ago I lost power for 7 days and that was a real treat with small kids and 90 degree weather 200% humidity. But I swore I would never be in that kind of position again. Time to stock up and build up supplies! I am a Playstation2 Socom3 junky and love a good game of killing my friends online. Thank you all for you willingness to share your experiences and wisdom, because of it we are all that much more blessed. Take care and I look forward to the posts to come. jt
