  1. Fishing kits

Fishing doesn't have to be complicated. I took my 10 & 13yr old boys out on Saturday for the Brook Trout season opener, we caught 11 between us and we only used a simple rig: worm, hook and a small sinker. We had a great feed of fish at the end of it. Now I just need to teach the kids how to clean fish.

  5. After watching Survivorman use chemicals (he used Potassium Permanganate and Glycerin) to start a fire I thought I would try it out myself. The Potassium Permanganate is somewhat controlled, it can only be shipped by ground. I found it quite easily in my local pharmacy. The drugist had it behind the counter a 100gm bottle cost $6.00 and the Glycerin was on the shelf for $7.99 for a 100ml bottle. I haven't tried them yet. Can't wait.

  7. Hello Everyone! 1st time poster.

Hi Everyone! Although I've been hanging around this forum reading alot of interesting posts I thought I'd better register and contribute once in a while. I am located in southern Ontario, I'm 49 years old and father of 3 (2B,1G). Our family does a great deal of camping every year but not too much "roughing" it though. I'll go out this summer(without our trailer) with my two boys and try out some of the survival tips we have been learning on this and other sites. Thanks and hello from Gary.
