  1. Swede, I'm waiting to hear what the Doctor has to say about Taken's research and reports she has done. :dontgetit: Im very curious! 8| Bigblue, the fact that Blacksmith "ain't" the greatest in the world with his spelling tells me he definitely beats on steel with steel a lot. wacky078.gif
  2. Umm Swede, that's not exactly an "exclusive" position, unless you're married, but even then still no guarantee (Im from Alaska). And yes, Bigblue, there was some hidden truth to my post. I do get paranoid, very easily at times. As a result I look for proof. I guess we could look at Kris's grammar/English composition as an indicator of his achievements over the years. You do a lot of paperwork Kris? I dont put a lot of stock into these Forums, but Swede you do an excellent job of it, and once again, I thank you. I never would have thought you would contact an individual with the credentials Kris has, and actually get them to post on here, but I totally see why he would do so. Yer doing a good job Swede, now no more, Im going back to lurking. B)

EMS wouldn't hurt you more, the City would just charge you for it, and then buy a silver toilet with the money. happy097.gif
  4. So if I was "paranoid", I would assume Swede is posing as "Kris", in order to calm nerves, or beef up his ratings. :err: However, given the amount of talent on this forum, majority of which having a positive approach to solving problems, and the fact what "Kris" says makes total sense to me, I will give Swede the benefit of the doubt. Thank you Swede for taking that extra step and contacting Kris, and....... Thank you Kris for recognizing the fact a lot of your customers are going to be on forums such as this seeking answers to questions, and solutions to problems, with a positive outlook on the future, instead of dwelling in the murky paranoia: "the government is out to get me", as an example. Also........ Thank you Rockhounder for starting this thread, I still haven't taken that step yet myself. It was a very quick way to solve a problem that some people may be having. I for one was a little suspicious, thinking maybe the war was taking all the ammunition. Because where I live there is a tobacco shortage, it has been listed as "restricted". There is a rumor that the military are short and taking all the supplies from retail to meet the needs of the soldiers. I say its a good time to quit smoking. You know, removing ammunition from the shelves, and THEN removing tobacco from the shelves would be a smart move, instead of other way around........

You know. If you fall down, technically you should be wearing a C-Collar, until transport to the clinic, its possible you could have a spinal injury. B)
  6. Campfire Talk

I read an article somewhere that talks about, dont pay any attention to "teach yourself, such and such, in 21 days" and instead plan on spending 10 years before you get really good. You can learn the basics I suppose in 21 days, but it will still take a long time to get really good.

    Just kidding  happy097.gif

Sounds good. So now I can start charging $50 an hour to fix websites? I used to work for a guy who knew somebody who fixed transmissions. Soon as a customer left, the mechanic would look up whats wrong with the transmission, and then "learn how" to fix the tranny as well. After a while the mechanic figured out how to fix transmissions without needing to look in a book.
  9. Campfire Talk

Well that makes a lot of sense. You may not know the solution, when talking to an individual, but he doesnt need to know that. :notangel:
  10. Campfire Talk

Yea. Websites are becoming similar to telephone, or power shortages. When things go wrong people become irritated pretty quickly. I like the idea of learning things so I can solve problems.
  11. Campfire Talk

Thanks for the link. I have a book on PHP, cant remember the author. I lurk around on webdeveloper.com, and sitepoint.com as well. Im glad you say Dreamweaver and Flash is easy, I need something like that as a project, and then I know for sure anything with "java" in it is difficult, but I like the concept of it.
  12. Campfire Talk

Hey King, I just bought a book on Dreamweaver and Flash. Im going to start figuring out how to use my programs. Do you use them a lot?

It will take you all summer to get the firewood in. You dont want to run out of firewood in that area of the woods, with those roads, with a bunch of snow on the ground, and glacier ice on the road. They have until May 13 to get their bid in.
  14. Campfire Talk

It will be a sweet spot for Blacksmith if everything works, using a lot of homemade engineering. That to me is going to be the interesting part. Seeing how he does it and why.
  15. Campfire Talk

Need a chainsaw that runs before you get a mill happy097.gif
  16. Campfire Talk

A lot of the roads around here were built using logs for the roadbed. And then people wonder why we have so many potholes.
  17. Campfire Talk

That brown line represents an existing road right? I know there is a road out there, cause thats how we got materials out to the site, and then used a beaver slide to get stuff halfway down the lot to the beach. If I remember correctly you wont actually have too hard of time getting firewood out there, in the summer time, just gotta get a lot on the developed road. But in the winter time the road getting to the subdivision, really sucks.

Looks like the down payment will be about $500, and then monthly payments around $100, because if you buy a parcel thats less than $15,000, they want it paid off in less than 10 years. However there is interest to pay off as well. So payments will probably be around $150 a month. Better off buying the biggest chunk you can find and paying it off as quick as you can. You have up to 20 years to pay it off.
  19. Campfire Talk

Yea but my property isnt accessible by road. If it was I could get a lot more firewood a lot quicker. Course hauling firewood 500 feet wouldnt be fun either. Better for me to haul firewood to my cabin, up the beach, and on to my land. Ive been to the area Blacksmith is thinking about going to, I helped do construction on the waterfront lots. Very pretty land around there, as Blacksmith was showing in his pictures. A guy owns a sawmill in the area, and does good lumber.
  20. Campfire Talk

Im doing alright. Everybody is shuffling stuff around it seems. Did you take that first picture Blacksmith? Cause it looks like the picture on the State Website. We got the state auction books a while ago here at the library. Pretty good prices on the land. Too bad I dont have the money for it I would get a piece.

Nurker, I do that camping gig, in public buildings, every once in a while. Im single though. Once you figure out how to get comfortable its ok. Glad you got through it though ok.
  22. Campfire Talk

Its a good way to get out of a jam, thats for sure.

HB, are you going to sling salmon this summer in Alaska?

Kind of ironic, I was in Thorne Bay when Redoubt erupted in '89, now Im in Thorne Bay again while she's erupting again.
