  1. Campfire Talk

Had a nice weekend, got in a 1 on 1 hike with each of my older 2 boys. We are usually all together and it was nice to be able to spend some 1 on 1 time with each.

Sorry to hear that Swede. They are every bit a member of the family. :'(
  3. The type of situation (Whether total global meltdown, or simple slow economic depression or collapse and anything in between) will determine how feasible various vehicles would be, as well as how prepared a person is how much fuel is stored and how they will use that fuel. (Cross country driving would not be wise, but driving around a small town would be useful for longer periods of time. In a slow economic decline leading to a collapse, there aren't the apocalyptic lines of cars stopped on the roadway blocking roads. And if the disaster is not truly global, then the bounce-back period will be shorter. Progress always happens, even after a collapse or depression (The most likely scenarios). The more rapid overnight collapse type scenario, or total nuclear war, or massive scale Biological attacks etc that leaves roads blocked with cars on exodus from the cities, although less likely on national scale would impede traffic, but primarily in the city areas. which only make up a tiny fraction of the countries roadways. But the far more likely scenarios we could expect to see would not negate the use of vehicles of any size. Personally, I like a good 4x4 like some of these bad ass rides, preferably with a good motorcycle mounted on the rear for scouting and quick trips to the local marketplace in whatever form it pops up as.
  4. Another year older. Well done HBT!

I'm headed out for 4 more days of camping with my youngest boy. Two camp-outs back to back a week after the week long summer camp. 10 days up through June (Yeah, I've been slacking the first half of the year LOL), 13 days this month (And 3 days in a cabin later this month, but I'll probably sleep outside). This is turning out to be one heck of a good month!! Just might catch my civilian record yet by the end of the year  . Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Haaaa, Yeah, bored scouts can be trouble LOL. Those aren't my scouts, Just a couple of scouts that were in the same area. My boy had grabbed the camera and he's 10 times better photographer than I will ever be. He just has an eye for it.

It's weird, I work in an air conditioned office, but since my office is also part of the computer room it's cycles on about a 35 or 40 minute schedule. It heats up to 75 (Then the air kicks in), but it usually gets to about 80 before enough air is pumped in (High pressure room to keep dust down) then it drops back down to about 68, then starts all over again. I don't have AC in my van and even on 100 degree days, I enjoy the windows down, (I never ran the air in my old van when I was by myself either). I just don't care for AC. (Too cool when it's hot out I get headaches). That may change as I get older (If I get older LOL). I have always been quick to acclimate to my surroundings. About 2 days in a hotter or colder zone and my body starts to adjust pretty well. I think the constant rapid temp cycle in my office helps too. It triggers both hot and cold responses 12 or 15 times a day and it's widened my comfort zone quite a bit. I don't even feel a difference from about 55 to 85 or so. Anything in that range I don't even really notice. (But I do stay very hydrated. I have noticed over the years that if I keep on top of hydration, heat never bothers me, but if I slip behind, I start to feel it more).
