Wild pictures

Recommended Posts

Here are my pictures from my trip to Tennessee to see my aunt and uncle and grandmother.  They just moved to Cookeville a couple of months ago.  The house is set on 10 acres of woods and it is beautiful there.  There is a cave on their neighbor's land and the cave goes under the ridge for three miles.  I wish we have spelunking equipment so we could have gotten better pictures.  I was absolutely fascinated by the cave!  I gotta go exploring!

If you duck under the rock and keep going, it widens out into several huge caverns connected by narrow passages and goes back for three miles under the ridge

Gotta be the funniest redneck sign I've ever seen...

Heres a tip on lightning pics Use a digital video camera and hold the camera in a likely area and just keep filming until you get some good lightning shots. When you play it back you can freeze the frames and inch back and forth until you get the best shot of the lightning. Capture the frame as most digital cameras have that function. It will then be on your memory stick for printing or downloading.

Our porch is just a small screened in area and in winter we put that shrink clear plastic window kits over the screens.Heres a tip on this kind of covering. Skip the two sided tape and staple in a few spots and then use duct tape and staple it. This more then doubles the strength of the platic where you staple it.I buy one long strip of plastic that covers almost all the windows in one strip.

Took a walk in a local hiking area and for a change, took my camera with me.

The Carmel river, or a piece of it anyways.  Normally dry, except for pools this time of year, the young steelhead are thriving.

This Heron is feasting on those same steelhead

This is known as waterfall rock.  Runoff not only cascades over the rock, it inters it and rushes out the visible opening.

Part of an old Spanish Adobe brick wall erected to protect the adobe dwelling of the Spanish governor and later used to pen up local Indians until they could be shipped off to the missions in the area.
