Doro22 0 Posted December 13, 2010 Well..... I think I'm gonna go in business making and selling divinity.... Last night was our Spoon River Saddle Club Christmas Party and we had a silent auction after we got done eating and my divinity brought $31.00.... Not bad... There was about 2 lbs of it and had hickory nuts in it... yummmmm.
Tatonka 0 Posted December 13, 2010 Looks real good Doro. Up here you could get 62.00 for it. They sell a half pint of canned salmon for 40.00 or half pint of homemade jam for the same price.
Doro22 0 Posted July 10, 2011 I went to Swede's yesterday and met "ole fat guy"....they were getting ready to take a 4 whlr trip around the farm....After I left there and went home, I made Red Raseberry Jelly. Here is the berries, washed and ready to put in pot and simmer to get more juice. simmering to get the juice I put them in a cheese cloth and hang from my cabinet door to drain all the juice.... Here is the pectin and sugar ready to use when cooking... Now cooking Then I get my water bath canner ready to process them for 5 minutes to insure sealing of the lids And walla..... ready to eat... Now this is a good item that you can put in a small container and take with you on one of your adventure trips to the wilderness. You can use on crackers, bread, toast,or muffins.I always try to take with me on one of my trailrides...

Snow Walker 1 Posted July 10, 2011 Nothing better then making your own jam or jelly...very nice post! My wife didn't go as in depth as you, but she just made a ton of strawberry freezer jam. Thanks for sharing
Swede 4 Posted July 10, 2011 Thanks Doro for your post and for coming out to meet Fat Guy. Our raspberries didnt amount to much this year we really dont have much for berry patches. Im thinking of planting some on the pond pasture.

Holly 0 Posted July 11, 2011 Yummy! My mouth is watering for some of that raspberry jelly! I have a question...what is the difference between jelly and jam?
Doro22 0 Posted July 11, 2011 Jelly has NO seeds and Jam does..... In jam.... you use all of the berry or fruit and in Jelly.... you only use the juice ....have to put in cheese cloth and hang to drain the juice from the fruit....I crush the fruit and heat to simmer and then put in bag to get the juice...
