"A stick is one of the most useful survival tools there is" (D. Favro)

You can repetively put a stick places that would hurt your hand.  wacky078.gif

You can thow a stick when you need to throw SOMTHING.

You can use a stick to intimidate when you don't want to have to hurt.

You can use a stick to help keep your balance.

You can use a bunch of sticks to build something.

Enough for now, I'll stick some more in later.

You can....

Split a bunch of sticks to make a house.

Rub some sticks together to make a coal.

Scrape bark off the sticks to turn the coal into flame.

Feed the flame with more sticks.

Yey though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil.

My SRK and my stick they comfort me.

For I am the evilest SOB in the valley.

You can lean on a long one when your tired from trekking.

You can use it with the sun to determine time and direction.

With a shoe string or parachord you can make a bow and arrow.

A freaking spear!!  Nuff said" :bandit:

Tie a bandana or emergency blanket to one and you got a signalling device.

Couple logs and rocks and you got a tribal drum set.

Clothes hanger to dry wet stuff

To cook critters on.

Poke one in the fire till the tip is red hot then twirl it in the air for some sky writing fun! :woot:

Fish stringer.

Sticks are the great equalizer.

A 110lb girl vs. a hungry dog, the dog wins

A 110lb girl with a sharp 6' stick, vs. a hungry dog, the girl wins

Put that same girl with her stick against a larger animal like a lion or bear, and it's a 50-50 chance. Give her a dozen sharp sticks, and that bear/lion is done for.

bush bow,

atlatl

glacier stick (prodding for crevice and deadfalls)

They work well for knocking things (like apples) out of their tree.

They work well for leverage to move a heavy object.

If you have to cross ice, use the stick to test how solid the ice is.

As you cross the ice, hold the stick crosswise, so if you do go through the ice, the stick could help you get out.

Just like some snow-shoes... a long stick can (If held horizontally) re-destribute your weight and help pull you out of some thin ice.... OR even worse....

swing it behind you

Why, thank you Returned by the Breeze (I was going to call you "Gale" but that just seemed silly).

You could also take your stick, split one end a couple times and make a frog spear (thanks Watcher and Razor for that one).
