Pretty good. I like the signature blend and Hazelnut

i like the freanch vanilla whole beans from walmart mixed about 60/40 with the dark roast 8 oclock. i just grind it the night before a trip and toss it in ziplock bags. i had a packet of coffee like what you have there once that was the best coffee i ever had, but i never knew the name. been searching for it ever since.

Except for camp trips and odd days off, I don't brew coffee. Just buy at the Wawa on the way to work.

coffee is my only true vice. i cant go a day without it. but i get bored with the same roast everyday. im always switching it up to find the perfect brew.

If it's really cold I throw a little hot chocolate in too. But I don't tell anybody.

I'm doing a batch of Pemmican for my camp trip next week. I've used it for soup but I hadn't tried it as a stand alone food until I saw it in Larry Dean Olson's book. I tried to duplicate the the instructions but time and work force me to improvise.

Ground beef and a package of mixed dried fruit. I cooked the meat then spread it out on a baking sheet. I chopped up the fruit and spread it out on a few baking trays to dry. I also cheated and added a package of Jack links teriyaki beef jerky.

Once it had dried I put in the blender and chopped it into a finer mix.

I had to render suet (beef kidney fat) into tallow. There are a few differnet ways to do this. I boiled water and melted the fat away from the meat and gristle. Then ran it through a strainer into a large bowl which I left in the fridge to separate. Once cooled the tallow (the white waxy part) forms on the top. I scooped the tallow out and melted again to. Once done I strained it again through a coffee filter it get rid of any smaller debris The last step was to simmer the tallow to remove any remaining moisture. Then I poured the melted tallow into the dried meat and mixed it up. About an hour in the fridge and....

Just an idea, Wal-Mart sells Coleman freeze-dried food.  Whats cool is that inside the cook bag, the food is indivdualy wrapped.  So if you wanna just take them out of the cook bag to save space you can do that.

We add dried cranberries and such to our pemican bars.

On another line about trail mix, my son is peanut allergic, so we substituted salted  sunflower seeds instead, actually we all changed in case a mistake could be made.

Just ran across this one.  Looks interesting.  I think we might give it a try.  I know my youngest boy and I will do it, the middle boy, probably not, and the oldest boy is 50/50 and my wife will stand there saying "Your Nuts", "Your Crazy" the whole time, but watching with rapt attention. LOL
