I travel quite a bit for work, so let's see who knows their geography.

I am within 300 miles of where I live.

Where I am standing is on the boarder of two states, neither of which is the state where I live.

This place was mentioned frequently in the national news most of last summer.

Where am I?

Auburn, Nebraska?

Nope, but the general direction is correct.

"Where I am standing is on the boarder of two states, neither of which is the state where I live."

I am actually within feet of the state borders.

Good thing you never considered a career as a detective...

Are you on Route 50?

On the drive up and back to where the picture was taken yes.

Not much between Gayville and Spirit Mound. At least nothing I can get from the map.

"I did drive by Gayville on the way there."

(I did notice someone there as I drove by, out in the wind...looked like they were trying to set a Paiute deadfall...)

You are close....go west, young man.  Look for water....LOTS of water.

Have Lewis and Clarke visited there?

Yes they did.  Near here, Captain Meriwether Lewis gave a speech to the Native Americans on August 30, 1804, under a large oak tree on the far bank, in the area just over my right shoulder.
