Horse Nettle (Toxic Plant In The Nightshade Family)

Recommended Posts

This is Horse Nettle. It is a a toxic plant in the nightshade family. It closely (to my mind) resembles tomatoes, which are also in the nightshade family, and can be worrisome around small children.

What parts of the country are these plants found in?  Looks fimiliar.

I seem to remember hearing that for quite a while people were afraid to try tomatos because many of its close relatives are toxic.
