Hophornbeam

Recommended Posts

I have several of these trees growing on the bluff in the north bottom. Commonly called iorn wood and are actually Hophornbeam or Ostrya. These trees are as their name implies very heavy and tough. The smaller ones would make great walking sticks or bows or many uses where strong and tough is needed. The smaller tree in the picture.
