Recommended Posts

What do you have in your car? Pockets? Hands? Backpack? etc that you usually carry around in the city?

I`m refering to survival stuff not bubble gum or such

Yep, be prepared, doesn't take much space and I don't have to wonder where it is. It becomes a habit, comes in handy every once in a while.

If you are going to be in a "survival" mindset then be in it, not occasionaly when the whim finds you. Live it.

Yeah - he carries lots of stuff on him.

What do you carry in your car? Is there enough space on the servers to support that list?

Water is carried in a flat flask in an inside pocket of my coat. Otherwise I will carry a 1ltr bottle on a strap that attaches via an "O" ring around the neck of the bottle.

As far as my vehicle I carry a more complete kit, we are often out in the bush, having a more extensive kit allows us to stay out longer in more comfort without having to constantly go home to supply.

Something that I neglected (old timers) to mention that when in another city I will carry a small pack and in that pack I carry a small 8" flat pry bar. Something that many mentioned after the 9/11 experience is that they had a hard time unstucking doors and one group that was in an elevator had to use a squegee to pry open the doors and bore their way through a gyprock wall.

Just like everyone else, I very a bit in what I carry

at work and play around town

- Knife, small folding opinel

- Zippo w/ extra flint or matches

- Extra change (enough for a phone call, bus fare, and a chocolate bar)

- cell phone

- pocket watch

- pen

In the car,

jumper cables,

emergency road kit - flares, first aid kit, space blanket, flashlight etc...

rope

frisbee.... it can get pretty boring waiting for those tow trucks

playing cards.  so you can practice your magic tricks on the tow truck guy

and finally, heading out on a daywalk/or just in case someone were to run into my house at 4 in the morning to drag me out of bed to go out into the bush and forces me to make tea, I have a possibles bag that's always packed with

Compass

camp knife

matches/lighter

dried cattail + flint and steel

tin whistle (also makes a good emergency whistle if you blow just right)

all that aside I'm thinking I'm going to have to pick up a few of the items you folks have mentioned to stash in the back of the car.  Good ideas all around

Pics of my EDC stuff....the Barlow knife isn't what I normally have.  I usually carry an SAK Tinker, but I had just gotten the Barlow when I took these pics....

Well...., the Air Ranger seems popular with this group, but I think you and I may be the only ones to like them for edc. There's a joke in the cigar cutter, breath mints, and comb...., but I don't feel like starining my brain to come up with it lol,

I love my Harsey Air Ranger.  It's light and flat, so it just sort of dissapears into a pocket until you need it.  My only complaint is that the pocket clip works loose and you have to be REALLY careful about over-tightening because those panels are aluminum.  The screw holes strip out really easy!

Mistwalker, as soon as you come up with that joke, share it!  :D
